Every year, I get a coconut for my birthday. I love them!
This year, I was really excited to get one that was fresh... for some reason, for the past few years I've opened them to discover they were rotten. My friend has a theory on this.
"It is a good sign! How long have you been getting rotten coconuts?"
"3 years."
"And how long have you been trying to quit your job?"
"3 years."
"And what recently changed?"
"I left the job."
Hmmmm... she has a point. This coconut must be a good omen for my life path change! I always thought divination had to involve bird or goat guts, but a coconut is a nicely vegan way of doing it.
In any case, now that most of the holiday hubbub is over, I'm starting to feel reinvigorated about the impending Etsy store.
This week I spent a bit of time researching a few of the crafts I want to start on first, to make sure I'm not making something TOO close to anybody else's stuff... but let's be honest, there are no more unique ideas out there. Even ideas that are inspired by only the things I have on hand right now plus themes that are very personal to me, like dried gourd slices decorated with a wood-burning tool to make jewelry, or making scarves in the shapes of various reptiles, have already been done.
I also researched names... did you know there are tons of people on Etsy named Kendra? This is apparently where all the Kendras have been hiding all my life. Kendra's Nook, Kendra's Corner, Kendra's Designs, Designs by Kendra, Kendra's Crafts, Kendra's Boutique, Kendra's Creations, Kendra's Collections, Kendra's Etsy Shop, Creative Kendra's, etc... and all the combinations using silly K-names like Korner... have all been taken.
The new Etsy store is very likely going to be named Kendra's Curiosities. "Curiosities" could cover a
wide range of products, which fits my eclectic nature since I am just going to make a bunch of random stuff and see what sells before refining the feel of the store. It was also pretty much the only name left. Anyway, the store is not up yet... probably
won't be up for at least a few months while I make lots of items.
Just looking forward to new things!
