Watching the fire tonight as it crested the mountain was strangely moving. Spiritual and romantic even, holding hands while we watch our mountain burn. Makes me really feel connected to the things that are important, and distant from the things that are not.
It occurs to me that I need to invest in a much better camera. The pictures I tried to take are absolutely nowhere near how beautiful the scene looks. I am actually a little embarrassed to post this photo, because of how little justice it does the glow of the night sky. Dad, if you're reading this... it's time to teach me your photography skills.
Go HERE to our local news, for far better nighttime photos.
And, for fun, a live webcam.
From the locations of the glow, we can tell that the fire has moved on to the next peak as well, the highest part of the mountain with the summit visitor center.
